High-performers are those who enjoy their sport. Those who do not forget that sport is a game and should remain as such. Once it becomes a ‘job’, it is more difficult for them to find the flow and perform at high-level. The example of France in football is an example of such approach. The team was in average much younger than other teams and most of its players played at their best because they were ‘playing’ and not ‘competing’. Having fun does not clash with lack of focus or concentration. It goes ‘hand-in-hand’ with flow, zone, let it happen and not make it happen ! So remind your athletes that sport is a game and that they will perform at a high-level should they remember it.
